THE YESHUA IN CONTEXT PODCAST

In preparation for the book (due in late 2010), we’ve been posting short audio teachings about catching the life and message of Yeshua the Messiah in his context so we can follow him better in our own. The podcast is also available free on iTunes.

HAGGADAH FOR THE BIRTH OF MESSIAH

Still in development, this is an early version of a prayer service, readings, and activity suggestions for commemorating or studying Messiah’s birth. Ideas included will work for families and study groups as well as individuals. Suggested times for commemorating Messiah’s birth include Sukkot (because of the parallel symbolism of the divine presence tabernacling amongst us) or when Shemot is read (because of parallels between the life of Moses and Yeshua).

SUKKOT HAGGADAH FOR MESSIANIC JEWS.

Also still in development, yet with plenty of material already for congregations, small groups, and families to make Sukkot a time of learning and prayer.

SHAVUOT HAGGADAH FOR MESSIANIC JEWS

Also still in development, this guide reflects the greater attention the Messianic Jewish community pays to Shavuot (Pentecost). Since the Temple’s destruction, this holiday has been under-appreciated, but has particular significance for Yeshua’s followers.

MESSIANIC CHEVRUTA SERIES: RUTH - (PDF File)

Small groups and study partners will find this guide to Ruth adding to the learning experience of this book of wisdom and hesed which graces our celebration of Shavuot or which can be studied at any time of the year.

CHAPTER 7, THE WORLD TO COME

This printable PDF file is the entire chapter 7 from The World to Come (2008: Messianic Jewish Resources). The chapter, “Hints of Heaven,” talks about desire as a divinely implanted sign of what the world to come will be like.

CHAPTER 14, A NEW LOOK AT THE OLD TESTAMENT

This printable PDF file is the entire chapter 14 from A New Look at the Old Testament (2006: Mount Olive Press). The chapter, “Messiah in the Old Testament,” explains for a Christian audience what Messianic prophecy is about. This is a more careful view of Messianic prophecy and includes a list of Messianic prophecies by categories: indirect, prophecies of a Messianic Age, prophecies of King Messiah, and prophecies of a suffering Messiah.

CHAPTER 4, PAUL DIDN’T EAT PORK

The printable PDF is the entire chapter 4 from Paul Didn’t Eat Pork (2005: Mount Olive Press). The chapter, “Acts and Paul,” explains Paul’s practice of Torah for Jews in Messiah and a different relationship to Torah for non-Jews in Messiah. The article specifically addresses the problems with the argument from Acts 15:21 that non-Jews were to learn to keep Torah like the Jews who were first in Messiah. We see here a Paul who keeps the distinction between Israel and the nations while upholding Torah and tradition.
